Year 10 Physical Education
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr G. ODonnell.
The year 10 programme extends students to develop knowledge and skills about what can influence their personal well-being and that of others. Students continue to use the key competencies of the New Zealand curriculum to establish goals and measure improvement in physical and health contexts. Furthermore, students shape, question and challenge a range of attitudes and values in varying practical and theory contexts.
Students explore a range of influencing factors on an adolescent, which could be health harming (risk factors), or health enhancing (protective factors). They then explore the consequences (positive and negative) of these influences, in order to communicate strategies to reduce risk and maintain protection.
Practical activities include, however are not limited to:
- Surf lifesaving, fitness, international and national games, volleyball, evasion, net and wall, striking and fielding games.
