Year 10 Outdoor Education

Course Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr G. ODonnell.

Length of Course: Half-year

Course Summary: Students will be introduced to the endless adventure opportunities available in the New Zealand outdoors through research, theory and practical experiences.  Students will gain an understanding of the holistic benefits of challenging themselves in the outdoors.

A willingness to face these challenges, work within a team and complete tasks are all essential components for this course.

The course will conclude with a 3 day camp where students can put the skills they have learnt into practice.  The location, logistics and activities of the camp are all planned and prepared by the class.

Contribution: The overnight camp contribution for year 10 Outdoor Education is $100. This covers the cost of transport and accommodation for the overnight camp. Occasionally there may be optional activities that will incur additional costs. To run the program as planned we do rely on these contributions in addition to government funding. Please be aware of this when selecting this course. If cost is a deterrent, please speak to your Dean.
