Year 11 Outdoor Education
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr G. ODonnell.
This is a course that explores the connection of personal development and the natural world through a range of outdoor contexts. It maximises our local area and close proximity to the rivers, ocean and mountains of the surrounding national parks. Students will gain the benefits of healthy and active living through a variety of outdoor activities (including kayaking, rock and rope skills, tramping and bushcraft, team building, navigation, caving, environmental and cultural studies). Classroom work is important and topics such as safety management, participation, wellbeing, activity planning and trip preparations are studied.
Topics include:
- Performance Analysis
- Participation and well being
- Rock
- Kayak
- Bushcraft and survival
Course Contribution: $250. This covers the cost of transport and accommodation for the overnight camps. Occasionally there may be optional activities that will incur additional costs. To run the program as planned we do rely on these contributions in addition to government funding. Please be aware of this when selecting this course. If cost is a deterrent, please speak to your Dean.

Numbers are restricted. HOD Outdoor Education approval is required.
