This is an academic course that further develops the issues covered in Junior Health. Students have a say in the range of contexts they will use to build knowledge of how hauora is affected, personal, interpersonal and societal influences and strategies, including health promotion.
Topics include:

- Health Promotion - Actions/Strategies to enhance Hauora
- Sociological Perspectives
- Attitudes and Values

Exploring models of health through negotiated contexts within Mental Health, Nutrition, Sexuality, Alcohol and other drugs.

Three or four of the above assessments will be offered throughout the year.
During this course you will learn communication skills valuable for any career, particularly those that involve working with people. You will develop some understanding of the frameworks and tools used in all Health careers. You will begin the journey of learning about social justice in society, particularly related to health. You will develop your own understanding and skills in maintaining good mental health, decision making, taking personal action to address health issues and what influences our health.
