13ENG2 is a course that allows students to develop their skills as they explore a variety of issues and texts in English. Students will complete a range of internally assessed standards at Level 2 and 3 as required. Students will look to explore a variety of written and visual texts. Work is assessed through visual, oral and written forms.
Assessment: Internal Achievement Standards up to 21 Credits at Level 3. This may include externally assessed standards if required.
Prerequisites: 8 Credits at Level 2 English or at the discretion of the Head of Learning Area English.
Term 1
In Term 1, students will typically be introduced to an overarching theme for the year. The first Writing Portfolio tasks are completed and, depending on the course structure, the Create Visual Text standard will be completed.
Term 2
The focus for Term 2 is the Close Viewing Achievement Standard and selecting texts for the Connections Achievement Standard.
Term 3
In Term 3, the Connections Achievement Standard is completed and work continues on the writing portfolio. Students wanting tocomplete an external examination will prepare for the Unfamiliar Texts derived grade and external examination.
