This English course is aimed at supporting students who work hard but find English challenging. The Literacy course will enable students to develop a comprehensive range of reading and writing skills and support them in working towards the Literacy co-requisite qualification. This course runs as a combined Year 12 and 13 class. There will be no external examination for this course
Please note:
Assessment: 10 Level 1 Achievement Standard credits and 3 Level 2 Unit Standard credits.
Prerequisites: Entry to this course is by recommendation.
NB: This course does not offer UE credits.
Term 1
In Term 1, students will focus on writing skills and preparing for the reading and writing co-requisites. They will have the opportunity to complete the Level 1 Achievement Standard: Develop ideas in writing using stylistic and written conventions
Term 2
In Term 2, students will focus on reading skills and continue to prepare for the reading and writing co-requisites. they will have the opportunity to complete the Level 1 Achievement Standard: Demonstrate understanding of how context shapes verbal language.
Term 3
In Term 3, students will work toward the Unit Standard assessment: Describe aspects of one's own whakapapa, family history and culture. They will continue to build skills to support success in the reading and writing co-requisites.
